Project Baby Love – Baby Jude

She would be killed if her family family found out she was with child, out of wedlock, and the father of the baby was “one of the others.”

Her best friend scoured the directories,  and found a doctor willing to take on her case for free.

She’d hoped to deliver the baby, and place the child up for adoption to a loving home. Everything was arranged.  The adoptive family was found, they’d passed all the relevant government requirements.

Baby Jude was born, a handsome young lad … with a hole in his diaphragm. His intestine had snuck into the lung cavity, and prevented the lung from inflating.

Doctors said without surgery the boy would either slowly die from asphyxiation, or from poisoning from the knotted intestines.

Mum was distraught. She didn’t have enough money for herself let alone, to save the child.

We couldn’t just stand by and do nothing. We asked the doctor to immediately operate on the day-old baby, paid for the medical procedures for the mother and child, and helped to facilitate an emergency adoption.

Today, Baby Jude is a healthy thriving baby, bringing delight to his new found family.

With the Emergency Infant Care Services programme, Baby Jude was lovingly cared for by one of our selfless volunteer families until he was adopted, and his mum was provided with employment and counselling.

We are so very thankful to all the kind donors who helped pay for Baby Jude’s medical bills.
