Meet the Bloggers: The Men from Bloggers in Big Shoes

The men from Bloggers in Big Shoes

(From Left) Alfie, Dedrick, Jeremy, Fabian will be donning their clown shoes in support of Project Baby Love this Sunday.

The men from Bloggers in Big Shoes got together last night for some pre-game training forthe football game against SAFFC s this Sunday!

Fabian Tan

Fabian Tan from nussoccer.blogspot.com

Fabian and Jeremy graciously agreed to train Alfie, Eileen, Nura and myself. Fabian’s a great guy and I’m really impressed with what he’s been doing with Soccer with a Vision. It’s really commendable that he believes in using soccer to give back to the community.

He’s also been a great help. He managed to secure us a small training court at NUS on short notice. Fabian’s twin brothers Jeremy and Jonathan will also be joining us on Sunday.

Jeremy Tan

Jeremy Tan from Soccer with a Vision.

I had fun training and playing with the guys. the last time I played football was in primary school. I still have many happy memories playing football during reccess. I used to be the ‘Handball King’.

Now, this Sunday, I will be playing against SAFFC! Who would have thought?

Unfortunately, I was never a good footballer. Not much has changed.

Fabian is a great coach though. He’s very nuturing and encouraging. I can imagine that he does great work with kids through Soccer With a Vision. I have a feeling that the young kids he teaches are much better than me.

I’m built like a tank though. So I hope I can become a super blocker.

Alfie Cai

It was fun playing some football with my good buddy Alfie. Though Alfie and I try to keep ourselves in shape, playing with Fabian and Jeremy, it felt like two old warhorses riding with two young stalliones (in my case, I’m not sure if I’m more of a bull than a horse…hmmm…).

When we were looking for a sponsor, Alfie was great in helping us out. He gave us a few contacts. Fortunately, Canon graciously stepped in and they’ve been great to us, so I’m glad to say that we didn’t have to bug Alfie’s buddies.

But we still need donations for Project Baby Love though. We’ve raised about $413  so far. We’re trying to raise $3,500. This will be enough money to sustain the 50 babies for about 3 months, provided none need medical care. Kindly donate to Project Baby Love here, if you believe that all babies deserve love.

Meet the Bloggers: Delcie Lam

Delcie in Big Shoes

Sure, you're probably laughing now. But we'll see who's laughing when Delcie scores a hat trick against SAFFC. Ha!

I had the pleasure of meeting my old buddy Delcie Lam from Delcie’s Desserts the other day. Delcie is just one of the bloggers who will be donning clown shoes to take on SAFFC this Sunday.

Delcie is a great gal and she’s been helping us out with Bloggers in Big Shoes and Project Baby Love a lot. On her own initiative she’s been raising awareness for Bloggers in Big Shoes and Project Baby Love on her blog.

I am deeply touched.

When I heard stories of the unwanted and unloved babies that we are trying to save, I thought to myself, “No hope lah…These stories are so tragic, Singaporeans simply don’t want to hear it…They’ll never help out as a result.”

But I’m very encouraged to see that bloggers like Delcie are caring enough to try to help when and where they can.

It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Delcie and Dedrick

As warm and fuzzy as putting your feet into clown shoes.

Delcie, like most of the bloggers, is not a soccer expert. In fact, she’s training specially for the event on Sunday. She’s been going jogging (sometimes in the rain!) to increase her stamina and she’s been getting her boyfriend to teach her how to control a soccer ball.

I suddenly feel extremely unprepared. I don’t think Rocky trained this hard for Apollo Creed!

After trying on the shoes, I went back to Whisk and Fold to ‘psycho’ Delcie into giving me something to eat. Hee hee…

Delcie is a great Special Dietary Needs Pastry Chef. I had previously eaten Delcie’s Dessert in Cups and they are absolutely delicious.

She has this rare talent for creating healthy cakes and desserts that taste absolutely heavenly. She let me try her latest creation, a vegan chocolate coffee cake.

Delcie's Vegan Chocolate Coffee Cake

Delcie's Vegan Chocolate Coffee Cake is light and melts in your mouth. It taste like a slice of heaven lor.

I had to tear myself away from Whisk and Fold. I had a feeling that if I stayed any longer, I’ll turn into a Blogger with Big Tummy.

I got a feeling that if Delcie made me a chocolate cake pillow, all I would be left with when I wake up is a chocolate covered mouth.

For more information, check out Delcie’s Desserts here. Remember to catch Delcie in action this Sunday as she and the Bloggers in Big Shoes dons clown shoes to take on SAFFC to raise awareness and funds for Project Baby Love.

Canon: The Official Sponsor of Bloggers in Big Shoes VS SAFFC

CanonWe are proud to announce that Canon is the official sponsor of Bloggers in Big Shoes VS SAFFC! When we told the  folks at Canon what we were doing, and how we were trying to raise awareness and funds for babies in distress, they jumped at the offer to help us out.

When we started our search for a corporate sponsor, we didn’t know what to expect. Honestly, we were suprised by how ready and empathetic the kind people at Canon were to our cause.

It’s nice to know that Canon is a company that is filled with people that really care. They’ve been absolutely fabulous with their aide and we really can’t thank them enough.

They have been unreserved in the assistance to us and I really cannot imagine a sponsor helping us out more than they did. I was extremely impressed when I spoke to Lilliane and and Crystin from Canon. They’ve got great heart and I sincerely feel that every company should have people like that working for them.

When we were in need of a sponsor, they came to our aide within two working days. Their support for Bloggers in Big Shoes and Project Baby Love has me deeply moved.

Bloggers in Big Shoes is all about encouraging empathy through symbolic acts of selflessness. We are deeply touched that Canon acted selflessly in coming to our aide.

Project Baby Love: Ellie

Here’s a story of another baby that was helped by Sanctuary House.:

“Her mother was a desperate and distraught 16 year old who was raped by her own father.

Ellie was brought into this world by a brave young lady who fought with the stigma and trauma of her situation. Ellie came to us straight from the hospital and was placed for adoption through the official channels.

After several months on the waiting list, nobody was willing to adopt this little angel.

Our dedicated foster family took care of Ellie for almost 6 months before we managed to locate a generous and loving couple. They fell in love with her immediately.

Due to the sensitive nature of the case and legal issues, we had to wait for access to the father of the baby who was being held in prison. After we were able to get his consent for adoption, were we finally able to commence the paperwork to formally place her for adoption.

It was a long-drawn out process, but it was all worth it.”

Support Project Baby Love now. Your donation could save a baby’s life.
